Lisbon is a city of hills that you can take sitting down. We stay in a small guesthouse in the old quarter, walk downhill whenever possible and ride the trams back up.
Mornings belong to the pastry counter. The first plan of each day is around eleven and it is never urgent.

Day by day
Day 1 · Fly and settle
Coach from the hotel door, a short flight south and a ride into the old quarter. Dinner is around the corner and nobody says it is late.
Day 2 · Down to the river
A slow descent through the tiled streets, a viewpoint for lunch and the afternoon off on a riverside bench.
Day 3 · The coast train
A train along the estuary to the sea. We choose a beach, then lie on it until the light changes.
Day 4 · Last coffee
A long breakfast, a little shopping for tiles, then the flight home and the coach to your front door in Wales.
