Andalusia has an old rule for hot days: stop at two, start again at six. We borrowed it.
Seville is flat and orange-scented; Granada is a hill with a palace on the opposite side. Neither is far from the airport.
When to go
Spring
Seville in blossom, Granada still cool at night. Book early.
Summer
Too hot for us. We stay home and sulk.
Autumn
A second spring. October is golden in both cities.
Winter
Seville is mild and quiet. Granada has snow on the far hills and sun in the square.
Both weekends fly to the coast of the south and carry on by road, with a guide on the longer legs.
